Get a Grip on Growth (GGG) is a community-based organization working toward a goal of Slow, Smart, Sustainable, and Sprawl-Free Napa. Our membership exceeds 1000 and is open to all who want to join (no membership fee required).
We continue to work on city and county issues alongside other like-minded individuals and organizations such as The Napa Sierra Club, Napa Land Trust, Friends of the Napa River. GGG is also one of the founding organizations comprising Napa Vision 2050.
When possible, we strive to "sit at the table" and be part of the solution(s). In the past decade GGG's leaders have participate in development of the County's Viewshed Ordinance, city and county Housing Elements, city and county General Plan updates, Measure J/P ballot initiatives, strategic transportation planning, Smart Growth workshops, residential and hotel/resort proposals. We are now actively involved in the City of Napa's General Plan Update.
We have on occasion challenged and/or appealed projects we felt were inappropriate and not sustainable - usually too large for the site and infrastructure e.g. Stanly Ranch, Napa Pipe, Lake Luciana, Carneros Inn & Lodge, and Napa Oaks subdivision.
GGG also continues to raise awareness and analysis of cumulative effects of growth. In this small county, growth in one city can easily impact the county as a whole. But sadly, staff and elected officials rarely look outside their jurisdictions.
We hope you will join our mailing list, keep updated and informed, and volunteer when needed.
Eve Kahn, GGG Chairperson
